Copying images is behaving oddly

Dec 30, 2013

Hey there,

I've been copying images from one open storyline project into another for months now. However, all of a sudden when I paste, the image is invisible as if the transparency is at 100% - but t is not. I have attached two screenshots. Any ideas?

Hi there Spencer,

It's strongly recommended that you avoid copying from one open program to another - including Storyline. This relies on the clipboard and can cause some issues. I would also double-check to make sure that all project files are on your local (usually C:) drive.

If you insert the image, does the same thing happen?

If you don't have a copy of the original image, you can right-click >> "Save as image". You can then insert that new file into your other project.

Another option would be to import the slides from your original course, into the new one:

Hi Spencer,

That's more OS related - you could try rebooting your machine and see if that does the trick. That should clear the clipboard of any data or issues that are keeping it from working.

Another trick I use (mainly for screenshots) is to do a PrintScreen, CTRL+V paste into Paint. You can then select the image, copy it (CTRL+C) and use Paint's menu to create a new image. Paste that selection into the new image and adjust the size if needed. After that, you can save the image as a PNG. Then you can insert into Storyline as well. A little longer process, but it works!

However, I still recommend using one of the other methods. You may have been lucky with it in the past, but I'd hate to see you publish a full project that ends up blank ;)

Let me know if you have any trouble with importing or saving the images.

Thanks!
