Corrupted or Invalid pop up

Jan 11, 2018

I have been working on a project all week and have even had it open today.  I had a meeting and went to open up the project in Storyline and now it is giving me a pop up saying that it is corrupt or invalid!  Has anyone ever had this happen and can the material be saved?

Thanks!

Hi Megan,

Uh oh! Not an error message you ever want to come back too. Let's figure out what happened and if you have another copy of that file somewhere!

Had you closed Storyline when you left for your meeting or did the program/computer have a restart/reboot?

Did you check that all your Storyline files are being saved locally? Working from a network/USB/shared drive is one of the known reasons a file can be corrupt.

You may have a copy of that file in your temp folder.

Here's how to check:

1) Open this folder in Windows Explorer: %appdata%\Articulate\Storyline

2) Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.

3) Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.

4) Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.
