Counter still adding

Dec 10, 2013

Hello,

I have created a counter to keep track of the number of knowledge checks a learner needs to complete if they skip them during the training.  An x will appear beside the one they skipped.  The counter is based on the state of the X.  Each time one is shown, it increases by 1.

There is a visit counter that keeps track of how many times they visit the slide because they are able to click the link to return to take the test.  Once they complete it, they will return to this slide.

Each time I return to the slide the counter doesn't reset and keeps adding.  I have included images of the slide and the triggers.

Thanks!

Hi Sheri,

Thanks for sharing the images here. I see the triggers you've set up , and based on the image you've showed the Visit variable is at 1, not greater than 1 - which is why  your "Counter" variable is not changing either. Also, there is nothing to "reset" the Counter as it looks like based on the state of all those objects, it should be 7 since they're all with the X. You could add a trigger to the beginning to "reset" the variable when timeline starts, but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for.

I'm sorry if I'm not following, maybe you could share the .story file here with us?

Hi Ashley,

Thanks for responding.  When I come back to that slide after completing a knowledge check, visits increases 2 and the counter increases to 12 rather than decreasing to 6.  I want the counter to decrease by 1 each time the learner comes back from completing a missed knowledge check.  Right now, it looks like the it is not recognizing that visits is no longer equal to 1.  That should keep it from continuing to add each time the learner returns to this slide.
