I am a non-programmer looking for help to add a button at the end of a course (no quiz or interactivity, only image and text content to read) that will mark the user as having completed the course in the LMS.
Is tracking via slide viewed a viable option for you? To find this setting, click Publish -> Reporting and Tracking -> Tracking -> make sure the top choice is selected and enter the number of slides you want viewed in order to be tracked as complete.
The button is requested by the client and I have already added the button, but no idea how I can make the button click communicate with the LMS. The better idea would be to check if the leaner has viewed all slides. But the client wants it to happen through a button "I Certify".
This is a scenario I often run into as well. What I do is create a quiz question at the end using the Pick One template. I have some statement at the top saying "By clicking this, I am saying I did this" and then I only give one answer choice for the user that says something like "I am saying I did this."
Once the user clicks and submits, they go to a Results slide that says you are certified. Then use that Results slide to track in the LMS.
Sorry, my explanation is a bit rushed. Let me know if I should explain in more detail.
