Course Issue
Feb 13, 2015
Hello! I have a course that is having some issues with Saba. I've tested on scorm cloud and it works correctly.
The course has a quiz at the end with a passing grade of 80% and it is set as Passed/Incomplete. Also, it is a 1.2 package.
When I take the course and pass it, it reports correctly.
When I fail the first time, I see an unsuccessful attempt with the failing score and the course remains on the My Enrollments screen (as expected). When I take the course again, and fail, the course is being changed to a score of 80%, is marked as successful, and is moved to My Transcripts.
The two scores can be anything, such as 10% and 30% but it still shows as 80% as shown in the example above.
Anyone have any experience with this behavior?
Thanks!

Thanks for mentioning that it works as expected in SCORM Cloud Craig. I would advise you to check with your LMS or perhaps someone in the community has some experience with Saba that they can share with you.
Thanks.
All I can get from the LMS team is that it is an issue with the course.... Hope someone has seen this before.
Hi Craig,
It may help in terms of pushing your LMS team a bit further if you're able to share how it worked at SCORM Cloud, as it's an industry standard for testing SCORM content. You could also look into utilizing LMS debug mode which would let you see the information being passed back and forth as well.
Thanks for the reply. In the cloud, it shows as unsuccessful an it shows the score. When I take it again, it report unsuccessful with the new score. In the LMS, after failing the course twice, it just jumps to successful with a score of 80%.
Ill give the debugger a try!
Sounds good Craig, and let us know if you need anything else!
So, I ran the course with the debug info and Im not seeing anything that stands out as the cause of my issue. The biggest issue is that the second time I took and failed the course, the course was again changed to a passing grade of 80% and changed to a successful completion.
I've had no end of issues with getting scores to work correctly within Saba.
I've had to push Saba on each occasion to resolve it. The issue won't be with your course, it'll be with Saba.
If your implementation of Saba is anything like mine, it'll be full of poorly worded tickboxes which are no-doubt causing the problem.
I really have a dislike for Saba.....
Me too :-D
HI Craig,
I'm sorry that didn't help identify any issues or elements within the debug that you could share with Saba. As Glenn mentioned, you may need to push Saba harder, and especially sharing how it did work as expected at SCORM Cloud will narrow down that it's not the content itself.
I found the cause/solution and then found a link on the site about it. Wish I had found it sooner...
:)
For anyone that has a similar issue.... Here is the cause:

Thanks Craig for linking that here - wasn't a thread I remembered, but glad you were able to find it!
