Course not opening in Google Chrome (58)
Apr 21, 2017
Dear peer,
Until recently I had no problems with playing our courses in all regular internet browsers. But recently I found that some of our SL2 and Quizmaker courses don't open anymore in Google Chrome. I have version 58. Neither locally when opened from my computer, nor when opened from an external site.
When I try to open it, all I see is a mostly empty page with a frame (which is the frame in the course):
The courses were published to SCORM 1.2, to LMS, including html5 output. It's the html5 version that I try to open.
The weird thing is, it doesn't happen when the course is stored in our main LMS. Nor with new courses. Nor when I republish the courses which cause problems and try with the newly published version (which are approx. 6 months to 2 years old). And it DOES happen to both Quizmaker and SL2 courses.
Very vague, I am sorry, but I couldn't pinpoint the problem myself :( Could it have something to do with the Scorm version of older SL2 and Quizmaker courses, combined with the latest version of Chrome?
One of the courses which doesn't open in Chrome is attached. Thanks for any help!

Hi Amy,
Thanks for submitting your file, and I see that Ryan was able to help you sort it out! If you need any more help, feel free to reach out here or reply to Ryan's email.
Hi Andre,
Thanks for also sending your Quizmaker file to our team. I see that your case is in the correct queue, and you'll hear back from one of the Support Engineers shortly!
Hi Amy,
I'm using SL2 and all my modules in Chrome 62 failed to work like yours (continuous loading).
I solved this issue adding my url domain (repository of flash files) in Chrome Flash Settings under Allow section.
Perhaps could help someone.
Thanks for popping in to share Giuseppe :)

I am having the issue with the AS2 (update 12) project. Published to HTML 5 and getting the blank page in Chrome (v58) in local machine and on the sharepoint. It works in a file server but I would need to make it work with the SharePoint in Chrome. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Hi there, Yang. You should be able to host Articulate content in SharePoint Server. However, it won't work with SharePoint Online (the Microsoft Office 365 Hosted Edition), since it doesn't support HTML files.
If you're using SharePoint Server, check with your SharePoint administrator for instructions on how to upload HTML content. Depending on your version of SharePoint, you may need to switch to "explorer view" before uploading content, or you may need to "check in" content after uploading it. Your administrator will know for sure.
Thanks for your suggestions Crystal and I have asked the Sharepoint team to take a look. I have re-published the project (AS2 update 12) and it seems like the HTML 5 version is not working at all in both IE 11 and Chrome 58. I believe the version that worked previously was published in a slightly early version of the AS2. Here is a link to the project.

Thanks for including the link, Yang. I tested it in Chrome, and I also saw a blank gray screen.
Would you mind sharing the original Storyline 2 file with us? We'll take a closer look and let you know what we find!
Thanks Alyssa, I have shared the file through the link :)
Thanks for letting me know, Yang. I do see the case you submitted--our Support Engineers will reach out to you as soon as possible!
Hi. I still can't publish a storyline class and preview it in Chrome. Everytime I add the My Articulate file to the Chrome approved sites...it forgets the set within a couple days...perhaps as I refresh my Chrome alot to test web based stuff that I upload. Are we any closer to a permanenet solution for this?
Hi Mike,
Could you share a link to your published file hosted on a web server? Tempshare is also a good option if you don't have a web server available. I'd like to give it a test run in Chrome. Thanks!
Well...I can send a dropbox version of the published zip file...is that what you need to see why it never remembers to launch my files?

Hi Mike,
I think I'm unclear on where you're hosting the published output file. Are you viewing the output file locally, or are you hosting it on a web server before you test it?
Note: you can edit out your contact information from your post if you'd like! Replying via email will include your signature.
Hi…let me clarify.
This is the preview that you see after you publish a SL 360 file which is stored on your hard drive….as you might recall…One option is to View Project…when I try to view the project…it jams…in chrome…and will not play.

Thanks for clarifying that, Mike! Previewing the published output on your local drive is known to cause issues like these, so I would recommend hosting the output on a web server to test it.
You can also drag the zipped output file into Tempshare for a quick test run.
Please help. This is a new Samsung chromebook. I cannot open a training file. It is written in SCORM. Please make the fix very simple.
Hi John, I'd like to gather a few more details from you!
First, are you trying to...
OR
Hi Guiseppe - In SL2 if you publish to HTML5 then there's no need to "allow" the location of the flash files. Running the HTML5 version seems to bypass or (ignore) the Flash player... If that's any use to you ;)
Thanks for popping in to share your advice/experience as well Mr Brown :) Much appreciated.
There doesn't seem to be a resolution to this discussion. I'm having the exact same issues with Storyline 3. This CAN'T be right!!
Hi David,
We had a recent update that addressed the following:
Published content stored on your local computer wouldn't play in Google Chrome 64 and later.
Please be sure that you are using Update 3 of Storyline 3. All the details and link to download can be found here.
