We're building a course that has to be accessible and used with screen readers. Testing with JAWS we're finding the course title and slide title are being read out repeatedly, everything else seems to be fine. Can you help?
I'm happy to help! You should find that JAWS reads the slide title from the menu and then reads the slide title when entering the slide. Does this sound familiar?
I've tested your course using JAWS 2020. You can see what JAWS is reading out by looking at the top bar of the window in this Peek.
Hi Lauren, thanks so much for the screencast and reply!! I couldn't hear the JAWS screen reader on your screencast. In the module I uploaded I don't have a title in the player section so I'm confused where and why the title is being read out repeatedly.
Also, is there a way to remove the red bar that highlights empty space when tabbing through the interactions?
The text viewer is what JAWS was reading during the recording so that it was easier to understand what JAWS was announcing. You'll hear JAWS read the title in the Menu and then the title of the Slide.
The Focus Rectangle will focuses on buttons, hotspots, and interactive objects. If text is read off then it will return the default position which is the top of the slide.
