Course Timer
Aug 27, 2013
I need a way to display to the end user the overall amount of time they have spent in the course. We have CE courses that require the user spends a minimum of 50 minutes in the course and test combined.
I have looked at using the the "End Quiz after:" on the Results Slide. However, I don't want the course to not score the quiz if the user goes over the time.
So I have two things I need:
1. To display the amount of time a user is in the course to the user.
2. To allow the user to spend over the minimum amount of time in the course.
3. To NOT lock down each slide.

Hi Evelyn and welcome to Heroes!
There isn't a built in timer for Storyline to determine how long a user spent in a course, although some LMS's will track that, although you could always submit it as a feature request. This thread, has a suggestion at the bottom about a Javascript timer which would not be supported by Articulate but we have a number of Javascript gurus in the community who could help you out.
Hi Evelyn, you might be able to do this by using JavaScript. Here is a link to another thread that offers up some solutions.

Told you there were some Javascript Gurus - thanks Nancy!
Thank you for your input. If anyone has already developed javascript for this type of thing, that would be great. So far the javascript I found did not deal with the time for a complete course. I will continue to search but if anyone has any ideas, let me know.
I'll keep my eyes peeled as well Evelyn, but I don't think I've seen one yet...
