Course won't complete and integrate with the LMS

May 06, 2015

I have two identical courses, one in English and the other translated to Spanish. The Spanish course will not complete and send completion status to the LMS. I have checked and all settings are identical in both Storyline and the LMS. My LMS uses SCORM 1.2 and the LMS Reporting status is set to Passed/Failed. Tracking is set using the number of slides viewed. I am using the first version of Storyline and Mindflash is the LMS we are using. I uploaded the index_lms.zip to the LMS. The English version is fine; it completes and sends the status to the LMS. I have run out of things to check. Can anyone help?

Hi, Lela --

There are a few things we can try to rule out some common issues: Please make sure you are working locally as described here, and you may want to try importing the file into a new file. If you are still having issues, you might want to try to repair Storyline.

And in addition to testing in the SCORM Cloud as Wendy mentioned, you might also want to check out this article on Troubleshooting LMS issues

Also, please note that when you reply via email, your email signature is displayed publicly here in the thread, so feel free to edit to remove that information if you wish.

Hi Lela

you say the English and Spanish versions are identical but only the English one completes...is the game in the Spanish version as well?  How do you exit the course on the final slide of the English version compared to the Spanish version?  Maybe it's trigger order on the final slide.  Hard to say without seeing it.

Hi Lela,

I'm interested to know how you went with this problem. I recently created 8 Assessment modules in 6 different languages, and encountered my fair share of learning moments along the way.

Some of the things I learned along the way are:

  1. If using question banks, translated question banks need to have their own unique Question Bank name
  2. Copying a results slide from the English version of the file generally causes problems. Create a new results slide for the new language
  3. When publishing to an LMS, ensure your tracking options point to the correct results slide (i.e. your new language results slide, not the english results slide) to mark completion of the course

I hope this helps
