Course wont mark complete

Jan 15, 2020

I have built a course in Storyline 360 that resides in an LMS.  The course has a path selection on the first slide for basic data or advanced data.  It is built into 3 scenes.  Scene 1 - Choose your path - Scene 2 - basic or Scene 3 - advanced.  Once the content is consumed in path 2 or 3 the learner is returned to scene 1 and a final EXIT slide.  It all works well, BUT when the learner clicks EXIT button scene1, the course is not being marked complete, just bookmarked at the final slide.  It is packaged for the LMS and launches and navigates as it should.  I'm struggling to figure out why it wont move to completed status.  Any help would be appreciated.

I've seen this question asked and answered similarly several times over several years. Seems to me that Articulate might recognize this as a common issues being experienced by many users and implement a bug fix. We too are experiencing the same issue. It's simply unacceptable to develop courses and then when we upload it to our LMS and test it out we discover that the Exit or Complete Course button isn't actually marking the course as complete. BTW, our LMS is Net Dimensions.

Hi Christina!

I apologize, I'm not familiar with Net Dimensions LMS but I'm happy to help!

Have you tested the courses in SCORM cloud to see if the same completion error occurs? Testing in SCORM cloud, which is an industry-standard for LMS testing,  is the simplest way to see if it's a snag in the course or the LMS. You can follow along with the directions here to test out the content.

Please keep us updated with your findings, so we can continue troubleshooting!

We did manage to figure it out. Seems that the triggers for Complete and Exit were somehow in the wrong sequence. So the trigger was changed as follows:

I had seen other posts recommending the SCORM cloud, but didn't know anything about it. I look forward to testing it as that may help us troubleshoot prior to uploading our story onto the LMS, especially as we don't have the access rights to upload it ourselves.

Regards,

Christina
