It would be better for you to use the built-in Feedback tool within Moodle - it's designed for recording and reporting on surveys and providing statistical analysis of results. If it doesn't meet your needs you may want to look at the 3rd party "questionnaire" plugin for Moodle which has some other features not provided by the built-in feedback tool.
Lots of folks look at using the survey function when they're not requiring a score for individual questions or the overall course. No need to use it if you don't want to though!

Yes you are right since I posted the question I realised that I could do this within Moodle.
