I'm sorry, I'm not entirely understanding what you're looking to do. I wanted to share that there is some information here in regards to utilizing timeline. If you could share a bit more about what you're looking to set up - maybe even using images, that'll help us point you in the right direction.
You can create an on-screen timer using a series of text boxes (or shapes) and adjusting them on the slide timeline so that each one appears at the correct moment and only remains on-screen for a second.
I've made the second counter with a little trick, using a blank audio file with 1sec length. This logic can also be used for a timer counting backwards.
