I am trying to create a template file from an existing Storyline project. When I copy the slide and go to Master View and paste it into a blank slide, I cannot later edit anything on a new slide if I use that Master. I must be missing a step...?
You should paste your designs into a new master slide and then have content fields in the Layout slides that are slaves to that Master slide. This allows you to have multiple ways of putting together static content quickly into Layouts of your choice. All the while keeping the staple things like banners and logos consistent on the Master Slide.
If you've added the elements to a master slide and applied it to a slide in your project, you won't be able to update the items on the individual slide, but will have to change it at the slide master level. You may want to review the information here in regards to working with slide masters.
