I hope this question hasn't been answered before... how do I write a variable out to Cornerstone and read it back into my Storyline elearn, to create a type of Leaderboard of high scores?
Interesting question Orla, I'm toying with this concept as well and I manage our CSOD environment. What would you pass on the variable? The complex issue here is that if you are passing anything to CSOD from SL, it would be through SCORM. Let me know your thoughts...
The SCORM connection between a content object and the LMS is insulated. Meaning if you pass a score for one user into the system, no other users will be able to see it. You'd need to use something like a third party setup to pass the scores in and retrieve for the leaderboard. Something like a Google Spreadsheet might work for that purpose.
Hi Steve, Would you be able to describe the steps involved to pass the information to a Google spreadsheet? I'm actually trying to figure out how to do a leaderboard of scores in Moodle with Storyline modules.
You can store data - names, scores, dates -- in a text or csv file and read and write the data to and from Storyline variables with JavaScript XMLHttpRequest() or with JS + PHP.

Thank you Steve, in essence some sort of data source or collection bucket is needed.
Thanks guys, there is a layer missing it seems - unfortunately something like Google docs is unlikely to pass our risk assessment !! Not to worry...
