Creating a 'Record Screen' video slide

May 11, 2020

Hello, I am having a problem when I am trying to do a 'record screen' slide.  When I click the red dot to start the recording, I loose the control panel and am unable to stop the recording, so have to close my computer.  I have not had this problem previously, is anyone else having this problem?  Does anyone know what may be causing this?  Many thanks for your help with this. Regards Linda Welch

Hi Linda,

Happy to help here! It sounds like you may be recording a full-screen. Your control panel will automatically disappear to not distract you from what's being recorded on the screen.

When that happens, feel free to use the ESC button when you're done recording, and Storyline will automatically save your work.

If you prefer to keep the control panel, resize your recording area smaller than full-screen, and it should stay in place. Hope this helps!

Thank you for this, I will try this.  I think this will work, it is just the controls disappear.  This should solve it, thank you

However, another problem I am having is similar.  When I go into the Player, the file is freezing and I am unable to do anything with it or close it.  Is this a known problem, or something I am doing, this has happened two or three times for me.  Thank you for your help.  Regards Linda

Hi Linda,

Happy to help here!

May I ask if you are working on a network drive? The reason I ask is that working on a network drive can cause erratic behavior to occur. This could lead to possible file corruption as well as corruption with course assets. For more details on this, please feel free to check out this guide:

If that doesn't match the current setup you are using, please let us know!
