Creating a Slow Crawling Message (sounds easy ... not)

Jun 30, 2014

I am using Storyline and want a long disclaimer required by legal to crawl along the bottom at a very slow, steady pace.  This will eliminate eating up screen space using other options.  Anyway, I have it written out and flying in from the right and crawling left at a Very Slow rate.  However, because the sentence is long, it goes way too fast.  It also ramps its pace at the end, which I don't want.

In PowerPoint this is easy to fix, but for the life of me I can't seem to figure out how to adjust these parameters in Storyline.  Can anyone help me with how this might be accomplished?  I'd greatly appreciate the knowledge!!!!

Sincerely,

Hi Lance

Having a play I couldn't find a way to simply slow it down any further, and like you said its too fast to read. How about instead of having it crawl along the bottom of the screen it appears as a slide layer? You could then have it come in when the slide begins or when it ends before the continue on. That way there is a (slightly) higher chance that they will read it too.

Another option is using a Web Object. The Marquee tag might get it for you:

marquee behavior="scroll" scrollamount="3" direction="left" width="350"

This shows a Jquery plugin behavior. However, half-way down the page it shows without the jquery add-on. It's built in to browsers.

You'd put this into an HTML page called index.html and import that folder as a Web Object. Toughest part is sizing it.
