Creating a Thermometer to Maximize Results

Hello! Here is my activity question:
Learners have 10 initiatives available, each with a benefit value and a $ cost value. They can select of deselect these initiatives while gauges for benefit value and cost value shows cumulative amounts from what they have chosen. The learner goal is to maximize benefits without going over on cost.
They should be able to try different combinations of initiatives and watch the gauges move up and down (adding and subtracting the values). How would you go about building this? I have attached the Story to show what it looks like. Thanks!

You could create custom states for the Benefits and Costs objects and then change their state based on the selected initiatives.
Thanks. I have got the project working, the hard part is the conditional triggers to prevent every click to be considered a plus or minus/select or non-select. There is a specific set of variables I need to align somehow.
