Creating a trigger to play audio when the user presses a key

Apr 30, 2020

Hi, I am having trouble making a trigger to play an audio clip if a person presses a key on their keyboard. I want to make this accessible for people who may not use a mouse or be able to click icons on the screen. This is the trigger I have started setting up but it will only play the media when the user presses the key if they have already clicked on the slide, which isn't what I'm looking to do. Can anyone help me?

Hi Megan!

I'm happy to help! Playing videos in Storyline 360 is keyboard accessible so you wouldn't need to add additional triggers.

Here's a sample slide that I recorded and moved through only using the keyboard. Link

Here are the steps to navigate through the video:

  1. Press TAB on your keyboard. This will highlight the Pause button. Now click ENTER or the SPACE BAR.
  2. Press TAB one more time, and now the seek bar will be highlighted. You can Fast Forward by pressing the Right Arrow. To Rewind, press the Left Arrow.
  3. To go back and pause the video, hold down SHIFT + TAB to move to the previous item.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
