Creating a website "Virtual Tour"

May 23, 2012

Hello all!

My department manages a "Customer Service Portal" for our clients that has just received a huge make over.  I would like to create a "virtual tour" that will visit different parts of the site and highlight their new features.  But I want to make it look more of like a "showroom floor type of virtual tour" where the user can click on a particular part of the site and visit that particular area.  So my question is, can Storyline create that same kind of look?  I have tried a bit with Captivate but haven't been quite successful.

Thanks!

Molly

Not sure what your definition of a "showroom floor type of virtual tour" is. If it means loading up an image of the website & having clickable areas that take them to a slide where you highlight features of that section, this is pretty easy to create in Storyline. You'd simply insert a photo of the website and use Hotspots to mark the areas that you want the learners to be able to "Explore". When they click on each Hotspot, create a trigger that either takes them to a layer on the slide with that information on it or to another slide with the information. You could even lightbox the info for each area.

Hope I understood what you were asking for.

You could use this approach with images and Markers, and insert video into the markers.

Throwing it back 5 years on us Steven :)

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

I'm not sure that Jeanette would still have that sample from 5 years ago, and our website looks MUCH different today as well.

I assume you are curious about how the navigation was set up for that course and it looks like hotspots were utilized. Check out this tutorial.

If there is something else that jumps out at you that you have a question about, just let me know. If you have a sample started - feel free to post that as well.
