I have been trying to build a custom menu that fades in on the side of the course when you click an icon. Does anyone know how I can auto populate the slide titles from the slide or thumbnails into a custom text field onto my menu? I am trying to prevent manually keying the slide titles. It would be nice to be able to have it auto generate like the default player menu.
I don't know of any way to automatically build a list of slide titles.
Instead of manually keying them in, I suggest you copy and paste the titles. That's less likely to introduce typos.
Another option: Export the Storyline file for Translation. The Menu items will appear at the end of the file. Each item will be in its own row, and it will include the slide number. But you could do this:
Copy and paste just the cells with the menu. This will create a new, 1-column table.
Select that table, and use Word's Convert to Text function. You'll end up with a menu list.
Delete the slide numbers from the items.
Copy the edited text into Storyline for your custom menu.
