I have the need to create a quiz question that falls outside of the supplied templates and I need to be able to read a variable I have set that will determine if they have answered the question correctly. I need to use the player submit button to report results. I have tried using some of the available question types and attempted to have my variable apply to the different objects but have not been successful. I need to know if I can set the status of the question using a created trigger.

Thanks for responding. Here is the slide I am working on. The user has to have all the switches in the proper location to get the question correct. As you can see, I have a T/F variable for each switch that gets toggled when they change the switch position. I will have to create a conditional trigger that goes true when A0=True AND A1 = False AND A3 = True, etc. That trigger will change the value of another variable that I want to use to grade the question. That grade will be added to the other questions in the assessment to be tabulated by the results slide.
Thanks for sending over your file, John. It looks like you've got an intricate setup of variables and triggers going on. I'll have to defer to the community for their ideas on how to design the submission to be accurately tabulated by the result slide. You may also want to look at the Building Better Courses side of the forums to see what other ideas have been shared.
Walt, You nailed it. I was trying to figure out how to let the question know that something had been done. I did not know I could change the state of the object to selected.
Walt, I am having an issue with the trigger order. On the player triggers, the interaction trigger is above the change state triggers. I can't get it to go down with the trigger order buttons. It moves in your example but not in my file. I tried changing the slide back to normal and changing to free form again but that did not help. All my other triggers move correctly. Any ideas?
BTW, this is my first course in Storyline. We just switched from Captivate. I am still learning the SL nuances.
See if you can delete and replace that trigger. I once had a slide get corrupted, and it had two submit triggers. One would move and the other wouldn't, and I couldn't move it or delete it.
Try importing those (or that) slide into a new presentation. Sometimes that helps clear up problems like this one.
Hi John - Looks like Walt has popped in to assist you here and I just wanted to pop in and mention that sometimes moving others up vs moving the one down seems to work too :)

John,
Try this, you may find it easier, and you only have one question. I made the assumption that every switch needs to be changed for the correct answer.

Thanks,
I copied the slide to another course, deleted it from the original course and then reinserted. Working fine now. Thanks everyone for the help.
Well there ya go :) Thanks for popping back in with an update John.
