Creating Monopoly-money like scenario
Jun 19, 2015
Hello!
I'm in the process of creating an Oregon Trail game. My client wants a Supply Board in which the amount of supplies goes up or down, depending on the answers they have chosen correctly and incorrectly. There are 4 different kinds of supplies.
The only way I can think to explain this is like Monopoly money. You have $1's, $5's, $10's, and $20's. You start with 1 of each bill type. You get a question right, you add a $5 bill. You get a question wrong, you lose a $10 bill.
Except in this case, of course, we're using supplies. Get a question right, gain a supply of coffee. Get a question wrong, lose a supply of tools. Etc.
Is there any way to make this work in Storyline? Should I look into Javascript?
I'll attach a shortened version of what I've created thus far.
Ignore the glowing hover states--I haven't finished working on those yet. ;)

You can do this with Storyline variables, no need for Javascript. You could create numeric variables for Money, Coffee, Tools, and Medicine. Then, based on correct/incorrect answers, youc an add/subtract from these variables and finally update the state of the Supplies indicators, based on the variable values.

Oh, gosh, I feel like such an idiot for not thinking of that! :) Thanks so much, Michael!
I just finished up the project and it looks great! Thanks again!!
Good to hear that you got it all worked out ;-)
