Creating variables to stop media when layers are selected.

Sep 05, 2014

I have created a slide with multiple layers. On each layer there is a video and buttons that will take you to another layer (users do not have to view the layers sequentially). Right now if I start on layer 1 and click on any other layer while the video on layer 1 is playing, it continues to play so I am hearing 2 videos at one time. How know that I can create a trigger that stops the media when the user clicks on another layer, however I would have to create this trigger for all layers on each layer and this will become an overwhelming task if I have 20 similar slides. Is there a way to create a variable that will stop the media when the user selects a different layer? Or is there an easy way of doing this?

Yes they are. I finally figured that out but now, I can't get my buttons to change states. For example, I have 4 layers and each layer shows a specific video. I have my buttons labeled as 1-4. All of those buttons are currently black. I would like when the user clicks on #2 it turns blue, then when the click on #3 that turns blue but the #2 button turns back to black. I've gotten the buttons to turn blue, but I can't seem to get them to turn back to black. I want the users to be able to keep track of which video they are viewing.

Hi LaKeisha,

Have you looked into using the states of those buttons? The "selected" state could be your blue state - and since it sounds like the normal view and what you'd like to be the visited state are the same already you wouldn't have to make any changes to the visited state.

If you're having difficulty setting these states up or triggering them, could you share a copy of the .story file here with us?
