Cropping Characters

Oct 16, 2013

Good day, Storyliners!

I am rather new to Storyline, but I think I'm getting the hang of it.

I am having issues cropping characters. Note I am using a WACUM board with a stylus. When I click the "Crop" icon, the little lines sometimes don't appear. This usually happens when I copy a character from one page and paste it onto another. Any thoughts?

Also, I am working with charcters that have been cropped. When I program them the change the state from Normal to Talking, the Talking state shows the character as distorted. Any idea why that is?

Any insight would be appreciated, because it's driving me crazy.

Thanks!

Thanks so much for your response! I am working on a PC, and I have tried it with a mouse. I still get the same result - not able to crop. I also imported the slides into a brand spankin' new storyline file, and had the same results.

I noticed something else - if I copy and paste a character from one page to another, I get the second issue (different states being distorted). However, if I create a new character that's exactly like the copied character, the issue goes away. So there's a workaround for that issue. It would still be nice to copy and paste.

Thanks again -

Mary

Hi Mary:

I too have had the issue with the character copy issue and a specific state being offset, sometimes by half the width of the character, and usually in the hover state.

I had to also add the character again to correct this.

Mary, I recommend you open a support ticket with Articulate. When you open a ticket, use the URL to this thread as the reference for them. I do not have time to recreate the story for upload, so maybe you could submit you story to support via ticket at this link:

I though it was just me

Hi Dazzer,

I'm not sure that this is the same issue as Mary previously shared here - as I looked at her previous case and saw that our team was able to determine there was an issue with the normal state of her characters and that's why they were appearing distorted in the other states as she was copying them. If you've created them in Photoshop, you may want to crop them there as well and then bring those in as images either for the normal state or the other states that you're using.

If you're still having difficulty with the images once you've inserted them into Storyline, can you share the .story file with us so that we can take a look?
