Cropping Values Randomly Change

Jan 24, 2018

I'm making a software simulation within Articulate Storyline 2, and each screenshot needs to be cropped the same amount. However, when I input the crop values in the "Size and Position" menu, close it, and then reopen the menu, the values have randomly changed. There doesn't seem to be any consistency in how the values change, just that it changes every time. This is extremely frustrating, does anybody have a fix for this?

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for those screenshots! I tried to replicate the same thing in Storyline 2, and the size/position values seemed to hold. I recorded a quick screencast of that here for you. Can you take a look and let me know if you're doing something different? Also if you'd like to share your .story file maybe I can spot something else off there?

The issue I'm seeing is with the cropping values, not the width and height values. When I insert an image and crop out the edges, the "Left", "Right", "Top", "Bottom" values are what change. I can't share the storyline file, but I can add a quick video to demonstrate what I'm talking about

Thanks Patrick for the video (FYI that you showed your serial number in the beginning so you may want to delete the video).

I see what you're describing in that example, and it does seem to hold it on the second attempt? Is that consistent for you? It also showed going down 1 px, is that also the same? It did look like the image was set correctly after the first attempt as well?

Hi Patrick,

Ok, I played with this a bit more - and it only seems to occur when you change the crop value and the scale values together. I saw the same thing in Storyline 360 too.

So it would seem that when you change the scale values, it's going to readjust the crop values in conjunction. I'll check with a few members of my team to see what the expected behavior is, but I do watch the numbers move together so it seems that they would be connected.
