Curving text in Storyline
Jan 15, 2014
Hi there,
Apologies if this has been asked before...
Is there a simple way of curving text in Storyline? I need to add some text inside concentric circles to emulate an existing diagram and obviously if I curve it it will look better.
So far the only thing I can think of is to create the diagram in another application and import it as a picture and use hotspots to interact with it.
Any better suggestions? - I feel I missing something really simple!
Many thanks
Carol

Hi Carol,
I don't know that I've seen it before.. and I also can't say I've seen a way to curve the text within Storyline. I would create the diagram probably in powerpoint using the SmartArt, and just keep in mind that it'll import into Storyline as an image. You could then use the hotspots to interact with it as you mentioned.
Someone in the community may have created something else, so I hope that they'd be able to share it with you!
+1, Ashley's suggestion is what I would do.
Many thanks Bruce and Ashley - I'm grateful to be reassured I'm not missing something!
Hi Carol,
I'd do the task in Corel Draw or Illustrator (or any drawing package) and save the curve text as a PNG with transparency at high than normal dpi with antialiasing on. Then import the txt graphic into SL
Hope it help

Thanks Garry!
I'm limited to powerpoint or drawing apps in iPad but thanks to everyone's advice have limited my search and found some useful guides on creating text effects in powerpoint here:

Hi Carol,
It maybe worth the investment if you want more flexibility - Even
basic drawing tools can wrap text to a path

That's a good recomendation Garry and I can see how useful it would be - thanks for the illustration! Sadly budgets are tight!
So far what I've managed looks OK with the powerpoint tools - and I've found that unlike the first time I imported it the text objects seem to import separately so you can actually do some manipulation within Articulate which is really useful.
Much appreciate your time!
Cheers
