Or create a your title with your desired spacing in another program--like PowerPoint. Copy it and paste it into SL. It will come in as a graphic. Re-size and position as you need.
Not perfect but it's quick and easy. Save the PowerPoint with your story file in case you need to change or re-do.

I can not see a quick solutiuon to that. Have you tried resizing (autofit) your textbox

By now my solution is splitting the title in two lines.

Some you win some you loose.
Have you thought of chnaging your title and only use a keyword. When the user hovers over that word, the full text is shown in a caption.
We do this al lot as sometimes too much information on a slide clutters the oversight...
