Perhaps someone knows of a way to create a custom motion path for a spotlight within Storyline? I have tried the Fly In animation but I need the spotlight to move up and down, not in a straight line. I inserted about 20 spotlight images and adjusted their placement on the slide and timeline but it's still not as fluid as I'd like for it to be. Any suggestions?
Currently Storyline does not have the ability to do custom motion paths. ( Maybe in the next version). To do what you want, you may have to create it in flash and then import it or you can do something similar in powerpoint, export the animation (it saves as a SWF file) and then import it in Storyline.
Well shucks! Was hoping their was another way aside from flash to create this... Currently don't have flash capabilities. Awaiting installation. Thank you though!
One thing you can do that might work is have the spotlight move from the (offscreen) left side to the right and then right to the left (offscreen) and then settle back to where you want. This would take three layers. I know its not the up and down movement you were thinking of but it would provide the illusion of "searching" for something. Unless you were specifically highlighting several items down a path.
Thanks for the assistance, I love the searching idea! However, I've played with the offscreen animation all day and something is still off... I tried with layers and was unable to achieve the look! Any other suggestions?
One thing you might want to try is creating the animation in PowerPoint and the exporting it as a video. You can the insert the video into Storyline. I do this all the time and it works great.

No problem.

Can you upload an example of what you did? A bare bones example is fine, just to see what is "off".
