Custom player template: Menu/list visited colors

I'm experimenting with creating a custom player. I wanted the visited slides to look a little more "visited" in the drop down menu. I found the listitem >> viewed color and set it.

I'm noticing that the scene gets colored with that color as soon as the first slide in that scene is viewed. I guess that makes sense because it is called "viewed."

Also if I have a quiz or something that is required it gets the color as soon as it is 

I'm thinking of this more as a started or in-progress.

Is there any way to do a visited/done?
