Custom quiz review screens in storyline 2

Dec 16, 2014

I have been searching for a way to show custom screens in the quiz review based on the answer given to each question. I get as far as being able to add a box with text but don't know how to have it show dependent on which answer was given. I have found a way that it will show based on which radio button is selected, but that means going in and adding triggers to all radio buttons on all questions. Looking for a simpler method. Any thoughts? I have managed to get as far as i have looking at these two videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oh0BXT8wN24&feature=youtu.be and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JK9jQw2Yqe4

This would be a great feature to add into the built in review button/layer or the Post-quiz review feedback area.

This is an old thread, but in the interest of not creating a similar thread, I'd like to add on to this one.

I have created a custom template with feedback layers that are visible for each answer to a question without covering up the question. That is, the feedback appears on the right 1/3 of the screen, with the question/answers on the left 2/3. I've done all the customization the slide masters, but the Review layer for each question WILL NOT pick up the formatting of the slide master. I have no idea where the unwanted format is coming from.

To get the Review Layer the way I want it, I format the first one, the use Format Painter to apply that format to all the other Review layers ... except even Format Painter does not copy the square corners (I guess round corners are the default), so I must go through each Review layer a second time to Change Shape to a square-cornered rectangle.

I have several exams that are 300+ questions. This adds up to 2,000+ extra mouse clicks to manually format these layers. I am beyond exasperated with this not working correctly, but have no recourse at this point because I have to meet deadlines. My template is attached. Any insight is appreciated.

I'll try to explain in more detail, and with pictures, about my problem. I know how to add the post-quiz review feedback; I've done it literally thousands of time. Storyline is just being uncooperative. I've attached three screen shots.

review-feedback-good.PNG - This is what I want my post-quiz review to look like. This is exactly how I have the Feedback Master formatted.

feedback-form-view.PNG - In Form View, I paste the feedback text into the Post-Quiz Review field. I immediately click over to Slide View and get this ...

review-feedback-bad.PNG - Wrong fill color, border line color instead of No Color, rounded corners instead of square, centered text instead of flush left, shadow on text instead of plain text.

So I format one layer the way I want it and use Format Painter to click through each and every other Review Layer to get dark gray fill color, no border, flush left text with no shadow.

EXCEPT Format Painter does not fix the rounded corners, so I go through each and every Review Layer AGAIN to change the shape to square.

For 312 slides, this adds up to 2,486 extra mouse clicks to get the right format. I would just like to know if this is another Storyline malfunction or if I'm doing something wrong. Thank you.

Thanks so much for that detailed write-up, Kendra. I'm sorry you're having such a tough time with this.

We're seeing the same problem you're seeing, and we've logged it as a software bug. We’ll continue to keep an eye on it to evaluate how many customers are impacted and what impact it has on courses. The number of customers and depth of impact are two of the elements that help us prioritize bugs and fixes.

Here's some more detail about how we tackle bugs.  I'm really sorry that I can't say if this issue will be fixed, but you're in the right place to stay updated on this bug's progress.
