Custom Submit button with Drag and Drops

Hi,

I have a drag and drop freeform question that uses a custom submit button (as the rest of my courses do) in Storyline 1. 

With all my question interactions I usually show a tick or cross and feedback layers as appropriate. All work fine in pick many, pick one etc... But the drag and drop only works with the inbuilt "submit" button. Usually I put triggers in the the feedback layers to check for correct/incorrect then change state of buttons.

I see from discussions this problem has cropped up many times before.  Just wondering does anyone have a workaround or do you know if storyline 2 fixes the issue?
