Cut Function In Storyline Timeline?
Jul 21, 2012
Hi All,
I am just beginning to use Storyline for several projects and I perfomred a screen recording to insert in a Studio course. In the screen recording, I have one small section that I would like to cut out to better match the audio. I am accustomed to being able to "cut" and "split" the video in video editing software, but I can't seem to find a way to perform a simple "cut" to remove this section of the recording.
Do I need to re-record the screen capture or is there a way to edit the video in this particular way. (Also, I often need to trim the beginning and end of the recording and I'd much rather not have to jump from the timeline to the "edit video" separate product screen for trimming, etc., because it doesn't have the audio associated like the timeline does.)
Thanks in advance!

Hi Keith,
Check out this tutorial. It deals with editing Screen Recordings. Pay attention to the parts about Action Fine Tuning.
If the above isn't what you want, you could export the recording and edit it with another video editing program you have. There is a link for exporting screen recordings at the bottom of the page of the tutorial I linked to earlier. If you need features like being able to insert the screen recording as a demonstration, a trial, or as an assessment; then you won't be able to do this with the exported video, only with the original screen recording.
Hope this helps,
Adrian
Thanks, Adrian, for taking time to reply!
It doesn't look like Storyline itself allows for in-timeline editing which, for me, is translating into having to re-record a lot of work when it isn't perfect so for now I'll be moving back to Camtasia and Captivate.
