Cut off "Call Out" boxes using Screen Capture

Apr 04, 2013

I have two team members testing the 30 day trial of Articulate Storyline to see if this product will enhance our system training demos, but we are running into a nuisance.   When we complete a screen capture the end product is cutting off half of the Call Out boxes.  While we can manually go in and fix them, it would be nice to know why this is happening so we can proactively prevent it all together.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so what have you done to fix it?

This is on a PC with Windows 2007 Professional and the system training screen captures are about 2 minutes in length.

Hello Peter, due to the nature of our product training I cannot share the actual project but instead I had one of the team members grab a quick screen capture of a Google search.  In addition I also asked for a screen shot of what the screen looks like when they just add in a text box or one of the characters.  As you see in the screen shot image they are either cut off or shifted.

Should I send the test screen capture through the “Share the course with us” link that you provided, or attach it directly to this forum?

Thanks for the screenshot, Jeremy

It looks like it may be an issue with your team's DPI settings. Storyline will function as expected when Windows is set to 96 DPI (dots per inch).

Storyline doesn't currently support 120 DPI. If your systems are set to 120 DPI, you may experience erratic behavior, such as:

*  Elements of the application are misplaced or distorted.

*  Objects are misplaced or distorted when previewed or published.

*  Zoomed images don't work as expected.

*  Font sizes are incorrect after using the translation features.

Here's how you can switch to 96 DPI.

If that doesn't seem to help, go ahead and open a ticket, and our support team will be able to dig a little deeper. Thanks!
