Cyrillic letters in the title blocks audio?

Nov 19, 2019

Hi,

I have a course in Russian, with voiceovers on every slide. Everything works fine, until I change the title in the Player settings to Russian as well (e.g. Module 0 - Модуль 0). When the title has Cyrillic letters in it, no audio is played when the course is published. This occurs both in Storyline 3 and 360. (I am publishing to HTML5 with Flash fallback)

What could be the problem/solution here?

UPDATE: I found out that all the .mp3 files become 'broken' (128 bytes in size) when publishing with a Russian title. I can overwrite these files manually, but it still would be nice to have a solution/explanation.

Hi  László!

I'm glad that you found the fix! I'm happy to investigate this issue further.

You're right about the Russian titles affecting the published output.

It's important to make sure the file paths to your projects and published output are well under the 260-character limit imposed by Microsoft Windows. (The publishing process adds characters to the file path you selected. If it exceeds 260 characters, your published output will be incomplete.)

Another tip is to avoid using special characters, accents, or symbols in your file paths and file names. Learn more about naming conventions in this Microsoft article.
