I was watching a tutorial on having a learner add their name to an eLearning and it shows a Data Entry tab in Storyline. I do not see this on my screen is this a new feature?
Storyline 360,,,I have successfully inserted a text entry variable based on a tutorial I found for this using it to personalize the course certificate when publishing for web. One example I have clears out the pre-set text asking for you to enter your name as soon as I start typing and the other example requires me to backspace or delete the pre-set wording as shown on this video. I can not seem to adjust this or detect a difference in the way these were done so I am hoping you can advise on this.
Also I have been trying this in the preview mode but have not been able to get the variables to work during that...is that a function of the preview mode that the variables or links do not work?
Would you be able to share a copy of the slide that isn't working correctly? That way, we can get a hands-on look at how you set up the text entry variable.
Here is the slide in question, I got this correct in the past but I am missing something about the way I set this up? I would guess that I need to delete the input text and start with a new one but perhaps you can help me see the error of my ways :)
Ashley, this helps for sure. Is there a way to have initial wording in the text entry box and then as soon as someone puts the cursor in the entry area the wording dissapears and the actual entry is input ? I thought that I have another slide this way but am not sure how I did it or if it was surrepticious ? Thanks so much for your kind help to date.... Regards Phil
The text will remain inside the text entry field unless you manually remove it before typing. I think your best bet would be to remove the default text, and add instructions above the text entry field.
