Date Entry and Triggers on a Try Mode Simulation

May 26, 2021

I am new to Storyline (worked with Rise previously), and am struggling to do a Try Mode Simulation. The recording did not capture any text entries to convert to slides (only clicks, or click & drag), so I am having to insert Data Entry text boxes where I need them. Question 1: Do I need to convert to freeform slide to confirm that learner types in correct word? Right now it is a Variable with default value left blank. I have zero experience with variables. Question 2: What is the best way to trigger an advance to next slide once the learner types in the correct word? There is a next button player trigger that the Try Mode created automatically, but I don't want to use that unless there is no better way. Slide 2.5 in Try Mode scene. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Karen,

Thanks for reaching out, and I'm sorry to hear the text entry portions didn't populate correctly! From here, I would remove all triggers as well as the current text entry from your slide.

You can then go to the Insert tab, select Convert to Freeform, choose the Text Entry option, and the slide will include the elements to submit the response.

I hope this helps! Feel free to take a look at these additional tips below when using the screen recording tool:
