Deactivating a quiz after a set number of attempts.

Jun 17, 2013

I have created an assessment in Storyline that I have set up (using variables) to deactivate the "retry" button after three attempts to limit the number of attempts. However, I also need it to not be able to be re-launched from the LMS once those conditions are met. How it is now, even if they have made the three attempts and failed, they can simply go back to the link in the LMS and relaunch the entire session and they get their 3 retries all over again. NOT what I want. Is there a way to limit the overall number of attempts (within each instance and beyond) so that the participant is only able to complete the assessment with 3 attempts ONLY?

Welcome to the community, Laura!

It sounds like, and I may be wrong, the course is resetting when a user revisits the course. Are you enabling resume or a prompt to resume? If so, a learner would be able to start all over again. If, however, you select the option for "Always Resume", this shouldn't happen.

This may also depend on how your LMS is allowing resume as well, if you're not using the Flash option.

Can you tell me a little more about how this course is set up?

Thanks and welcome again!
