And whilst I'm at it, let's go through some of the other murderous papercuts.

Why...

  • can't we Paste an object in place? Why does it place it an odd amount of pixels away? It's not even 10!
  • does the program perform as though I'm running it on a potato, rather than a pro workstation?
  • haven't you fixed that absolutely devastating issue with triggers becoming unreadable in the trigger pane? It's been a MONTH, and this is a MAJOR issue! Come the heck on!
  • is it so frustrating to rename the auto-renamed objects? If I have an image called 'background', which I then duplicate on another layer, it will rename the duplicate 'background 1', which is fine. What is absolutely not fine is the fact that we cannot simply delete the '1' without first renaming the object slightly. So the process ends up being 'background > background 1 > background 1jhdksdgh > background. F R U S T R A T I N G.
  • can I not add an object to a group? If I have a group with a complex series of motion paths attached to it, ungrouping it to add another object will delete all those paths. Not to mention having to re-target any triggers that were pointing to it!
  • can't we see a list of motion paths on an object - we're forced to nudge paths out of the way in order to see ones they may be on top of. This wouldn't be so bad if the program were 64 bit, but we're stuck with 32bits of S L O W.
  • can't we renumber scenes? I'm sick of having things like '4.1 - Main menu > 2.1 Introduction'. I get that the user doesn't see this... but come ooooon! This makes for a messy, confusing interface for the designer.
  • after taking 700 years to add something as simple and fundamental as page numbering... why would you not allow us to put that somewhere on the player itself? Like by the Next/Previous buttons? Why do we have to put it on a page master where it will vanish behind any new layers? Which brings me neatly to...
  • FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS RIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL IN THIS WORLD, WHY CAN YOU NOT MAKE A SLIDE MASTER STAY ON TOP?! AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGH!

I have many, many more. But I frankly just needed to vent. I know that you'll tell me to submit feature requests for these, but frankly, they shouldn't be features. They're basic necessities and polish for a program which costs as much as this does.

Thanks,

Montse

Good news: There is one request on your list I can help with and that's the option to paste in place: CTRL+SHIFT+D

But I'm with you that those would make great enhancements to Storyline. Looking at SL360's version history, I think Articulate really is listening to our feedback and requests:  https://articulate.com/support/article/Articulate-Storyline-360-Version-History

It's clear you're a long-time user of Storyline and have some great insights into where Storyline can improve overall performance. Hopefully you won't give up on submitting your feature requests.
