Default settings

Sep 24, 2014

Hi everyone,

I'm a new kid on the block. My old software had the possibility to set default settings when recording the screen. So i could set the fonts and format of captures en rectangles. By using screencasts in Articulate in the try mode, it generates also captures and rectangles. Where in Articulated can set the font and format of those things for the whole scene of even the whole project?

Hi Dirk,

Welcome to the community.

Are you using Storyline 1 or SL2? I know this is true of SL1 and assume nothing has changed in SL2. If so, hopefull someone will jump in.

Colors for Captions

The caption color is controlled by "Accent 1" in the Design themes. Changing it will change ALL captions for your .story file, not just the Try It captions.

  1. Click the Design tab in the ribbon
  2. Click the colors drop-down
  3. Click Create New Theme Colors to open the dialog box.
  4. Click the Accent 1 drop-down.
Your new theme starts out using the colors of whatever your current them is. In this example the current theme is the default Office theme. You can see that the Try It caption is blue
  5. Change to the desired color.

Fonts for Captions

There's also a Fonts Drop-Down below the Colors Drop-Down, but changing this doesn't seem to do anything for the existing Try It captions. I thought perhaps changing the Font in the Feedback Master would work, since this is how to change the font for layers, and the Hint Caption is a layer. But that doesn't work either.

Hope someone will jump in and tell us there's an easier way than doing it all manually!

Thank you very much Rebecca. I looked at the possibility you explained, and i also found that the fontcolor in captures changes when i change the "Text Background Light 1". Since i just want to format the captures in a screencast, it's not quit the sollution i was looking for.

I hope there is another helpfull spitit on this forum.

By the way: i tried the zoom and found a simular problem: where can i adjust the zoomfactor? Now is always zooms out until full screen.

Hi Dirk,

I also hope someone can give you a tip about changing the recording captions globally. The only other option I'm aware of is to use set up one the way you'd like, and then use the Format Painter to copy the formatting to the rest ... rather a time consuming task!

2 things:

1. Could you let the community know whether you're using SL1 or SL2?

2. I'm not sure what you mean when you're asking about zooming. Could you explain a bit more so one of use could provide an answer?
