Degraded screen shots - now SWF not working either

Apr 17, 2014

I originally took a screen recording of the slides I needed (in storyline) but the slides were not crisp enough. I tried doing screen captures of the exact size I needed and those too were degraded when imported as a BMP. I read on here somewhere that if you save the screen shot as a SWF and then import it will be clearer. True. It worked. Except now, though the SWF is playing on my timeline it does not show up when I preview/publish the slide. I only see the gray background with all my animation. Why? If the SWF isn't an option, other suggestion? The screen I'm displaying include graphs, charts, data, so clarity is key. TIA

Hi J,

I'm sorry to hear about your odd behavior with the SWF file, but just to confirm are you working with local project files and then testing the published output within the intended environment as described here?

In regards to your original screen recordings and their capture. The images are being compressed during publish, and you could change the publishing quality settings within the publish window:

Also, you mentioned importing them as a bmp file, I'd recommend using a png or jpeg instead.
