delaying a trigger launch

Apr 03, 2013

hello everyone!

I have a trigger on storyline that reveals a new layer, but I also have a video on the page that i want the user to watch first. the trigger sits on one of three icons which will act as triggers throughout the module, so at different times it will need to be a trigger & at others, just an icon.

Is there a way I can delay the trigger from being active until after the video has finished, but still have the icon that the trigger sits over present on screen?

Essentially the user can watch the video or click the trigger right now, and I want the user to have to do it in a particular order - but can't figure out how?

Hi Russell and Doug,

Doug, thanks for answering. I saw the question and came up with a different solution before I saw your answer. Figured I'd throw my approach out there for whoever is interested. As everyone says about Storyline, there's often several ways to do things.

So, Russell, another approach could be to place a shape over the icon that shows the layer, set its transparency to100%, no lines. Then, set a trigger to change the state of the shape to hidden when the media completes. When its state changes, the icon becomes "clickable."
