Deleted Continue button on feedback master. Gone forever?

Jun 05, 2014

I accidentally deleted the Continue button on my feedback master slides and for some reason I can't seem to get it back. I initially assumed I could create a new feedback master and it would create the default Continue button, but that didn't work either. It shows up in my project as a gray box with no text, but it still says "click to edit master..." if you view Master layer. Anyone have this issue and know how to turn back time so I can have normal buttons again?

Hi Megan,

Thanks for the images - if it's gone completely from new projects, please first check into the following:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive).Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, includingfile corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory pathto your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters(for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents orsymbols in your file names.

Next, try to conduct the repair of Storyline and test it on a brand new project that you've created on your local drive.

It looks like this problem came back and nothing I can do will fix it. I'm still using Parallels and sharing is turned off, working on C drive, my directory path is short, no characters/accents, etc. I've been desperate to get this to work, so I installed Parallels and Windows on my other Mac and still have the same issue. No working feedback Master button. Adding a button to each slide is not sustainable for these long courses I work with, so any ideas?

I am using the default feedback master. I open a new project, insert a layer and choose the default correct feedback. The button is invisible as it was in the screenshot I posted above in this forum. Just stopped working the other day for no reason. I had my co-worker screenshare with me this morning (he also uses Storyline in Parallels). We disabled file sharing and his feedback master is not working either.

Yes, both of our feedback masters were working before, both of us use Parallels too. We both created a brand new product on our own local drives, the same type of example story project that I just created and attached for you. Not sure if you'll be able to duplicate the issue if you are not accessing Windows via Parallels though. I also submitted a support ticket. I'm just hoping for some sort of answer soon because I've put some projects on hold until I am able to get this resolved.

I do appreciate your help!

By the way, this is what I see after I click the button on the base layer in preview mode.

Hi Megan,

Thanks for sharing the file here. I can see what you've showcased here within the forums when I take a look at your file. I'm curious about how you've used the feedback master slide for a slide that isn't a question slide? When I add a question slide and use the feedback master - those work as expected and the continue button appears and works as normal. So, with that in mind - I'm curious why you've applied a feedback master slide layer to a non question slide? I suspect it's working as you see because Storyline can tell that it's not a question slide and therefore the continue button is not built in as a part of the layer. I'd look at setting up something like this on a regular slide master and then applying it to you layers as needed.

I see that you also submitted a case, and I'll share the thoughts I posted here with Jonathan as well.
