Developing a virtual tour

Aug 18, 2017

Hi,

Has anyone programmed a virtual tour of facility?  I need to make the learner feel like they have entered rooms and then they can touch objects to learn about them?

Working on storyline 2.

Thanks!

I'm working on a game that has the features you described. It has a top-down view of the house, where you can click on the different rooms to navigate throughout the house. Each room has numerous hotspots on objects, and information is provided in the dialog box in the lower left corner when an object is selected. Some objects can be double-clicked and added to your inventory. This is being developed in Storyline 3, but I don't think I used any features (besides a dial on one layer) that don't exist in Storyline 2. Is this kind of what you're looking to do?

My current design for this is to have everything on one slide, and just use layers for the different rooms of the house. I have a small number of rooms though, and it might be easier to make separate slides for each location if you are touring a larger area.

The dialog area is javascript driven, gives the name of the room when visited, and displays descriptions of objects when they are clicked. This was much easier than using separate description layers for each object, as my final project could contain hundreds of objects that can be inspected. A new line of text can be added to the dialog area with a single trigger which changes a variable,

Hi,

I noticed that a few of these comments are over two years old.  Just want to see if there has been updates here.  Has anyone created a program of a virtual tour of room?  I need to make the learner feel like they have entered the rooms and then they can touch objects to learn about them?  I would have hotspots over the objects I put in the room to allow them to pop up or turn into a PDF slide with an enlarged image and text.

Thanks!

Mike
