Developing for a Thin Client Machine

Jul 31, 2013

I am currently testing Storyline as a possible authoring tool for courses. We deliver content on both Windows machines and Linux based Thin Clients (machines with 2GB memory and 2GB Ram). Needless to say they are very under powered.

The test courses I have developed are very small. I have successfully tested them on PC, but I am having issues on the Thin Client. The course freezes after the first couple slides. I loose the ability to access the menu, move forward or back or exit.

I believe this is due to the RAM getting maxed out and the machine just locks up. Our current tool is a custom build Flash template that allows us to deliver content within individual .swf files pulled into a shell .swf. This makes the files being loaded very small.

Does anyone have any ideas for a good approach to making this work. I have to mention the Thin Client is incredibly locked down. I can do little to change its image.
