Thanks for reaching out and sharing your curiosity. I've not seen this question asked before, but I know Storyline treats both similarly when you save and just lists both as the file types.
Similar to what you see with .ppt and .pptx, with the x indicating xml as a part of the file.
Thanks for your response. Initialy I thought the .athm files were used in SL1, but that version used .theme as an extension. I don't know if the older versions of Quizmaker used .athm.
