different focus issue

May 15, 2012

I had made a rudimentary game a while back with multiple answers appearing on the screen and the players could click in and either gain or lose points for each question that came up.  I haven't touched it in a few RC builds but went back today and am having an issue that the screen no longer has focus when the incorrect layer plays and hides so no further input is possible.  If I click the screen with them mouse to regain focus, further incorrect or correct answers can be played.  Before, they could get multiple answers wrong prior to a correct one taking them to the next question.  I was questioning my sanity until I found an old published version that works perfectly.

Story file is attached and here is a link to the published output how it used to work.

Thanks for any input anyone may have.

Hi, Tim.

It's been quite a while since your post, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyhow!

The one difference I noticed consistently between your Correct slide layers and your Incorrect slide layers is that within your Correct slide layers, none of the Text Boxes are set to "Show Until End," whereas within your Incorrect slide layers, all of the Text Boxes are set to "Show Until End."

When I modified your Incorrect slide layers to disable "Show Until End," the loss of focus problem was resolved in most cases.  I couldn't quite nail down the inconsistencies, but there seems to be a timing or overlap issue of some kind.  I would recommend fiddling with your display timings and "Show Until End" settings until you get things working as desired.

Good luck!
