Dimmed Layers
Apr 11, 2013
Hi
Sorry, this is really winding me up but when I create a new slide from Top Character interactions, for example, Two person Scenario on the three choice layers the characterd and boxex are grey and non clickable. How is this done on slides you create yourself? I have tried dim non selected layers makes not a jot of difference. I know in the published file it doesn't matter but I need to know how it is done just because I don't! .
I know you can but a transparent layer over but that doesn't seem to be what has happened here.
Can anyone enlighten me?
Thanks
Michelle
(Sorry I have to know even unimportant things!)

Michelle,
I'm a little confused as to what you are asking. Are you referring to the base layer being greyed out when working with new layers?
Sorry, I mean this effect on a layer, the character isn't clickable. I'm just wondering why and how!
Hi Michelle,
The effect you are seeing is because you have selected one of the layers - in this case Choice 1. The character is on the slide rather than a layer so it is not selectable unless you return to the slide.
When you select a layer the slide will remain visible. albeit greyed out, unless you close the 'eye' on it by clicking the show/hide icon in the layers panel. This is because very often you would want to see how your layer objects appear in relation to your slide objects. Also the slide objects are shown in the timeline so you can choose to hide them when the layer in triggered.
Hope this helps
Helen
But why when I create a slide and a layer do i not get the same effect? That is what is bugging me!
Michelle;
Is there any chance you are duplicating layers rather than making new layers? If you duplicate you will have all of the elements of the base layer repeated on your new layer and they will show up non greyed out.
Tim
Thanks Tim
That was it!!!
