Disable button until audio ends
Jun 05, 2013
Hi all,
I am quite new in using Storyline so sorry for my questions..
I have a slide with audio in my course in which there are some buttons that show different layers. I would like to set to set the buttons clickable only after having listened to the audio (as the layers don't have any audio and it could create confusion). I used the medical template downloaded from the community and I would like to use this kind of solution in the slide named "interaction slide.
Is it possible? if yes how can I manage it?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Silvia

Hi Silvia
On the States tab you can set the initial state for the buttons to 'Disabled' and then you can add triggers that change the state of the buttons to 'Normal' when the Media Completes, selecting your audio track as the media file.
Hope this helps you set up your slide as you want.
Cheers
Helen
Great. Done. It works fine.
Thanks a lot.

Hello,
I have a very similar situation as the above mentioned. Helen's suggestion worked fine except when the user clicks on the first button and completes the tasks it sends them back to the main menu page and my other two buttons are disabled. I need the buttons only disabled until the media stops when they first visit the main page. When the user revisits the main page I need all the buttons functioning. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Marisette
Hi Marisette,
Thanks for reaching out and sharing what you would like to create in your story.
It sounds like you may need a variable for your buttons when a user returns to the slide and the media is complete.
With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
