I am faily new to Storyline. what I am trying to do is stop the user moving through the menu items until the timelines ends for each slide. I have added custom Previous/Next buttons and can restrict the user this way but I want the menu to display as well.
Are you referring to a menu you've created? In that case you can you Donna's advice.
Or are you referring to the standard player menu - the one that typically appears on the left side of the screen? If so, you can have it display but control Learner ability to use it by
1. Click Player
2. Click the menu tab at the top
3. Click the additional options gear near the bottom of the window.
4. Click on the Navigation Restriction drop-down and change to either restricted or locked
When the Additional Options window appears, use the Navigation Restriction selector to choose one of the following:
Free: This allows learners to click on the titles in the course's menu to navigate to any part of the course at any time. They can view whatever slides they wish, in any order.
Restricted: This means learners can view the current slide and any slide they've previously viewed, but they can't use the menu to jump ahead or skip over slides.
Locked: This means learners can only view the slides in the order you've designed. They can't use the menu to jump ahead or skip over slides, nor can they use it to skip back to any previously viewed slides.

Hi Christine,
You can set the initial states of your Menu to Hidden then add a trigger to change state to Normal when timeline ends.
Let me know if you need more details.
