Disable multiple clicks to avoid racking up points

I have an interaction where the learner is asked to score each character by awarding them points. To award a point they click a check box. I am having a hard time with preventing the learner from clicking the checkbox multiple times to "rack up points" but ALSO allowing them to change their mind on who they want to give the point to. How can each click ONLY give 1 point maximum? I have attached my project slide.

Hi, Gila.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your .story file!

I am looking forward to what other community members will suggest for you, but in the meantime, here's my recommendation: instead of updating the scores as the user awards the points, I would create a calculate button.

The user would be able to change the awarding of points as often as they wanted, but it would only reflect once they clicked that button. This avoids the issue of "racking up points".

I am attaching an edited version of your file with my suggestion. I also added a reset button so the user could try the calculation again.

Let me know if this works!
